A big reason is that you will no longer have to sleep with a pet in your bed. Since felines like warmth and coziness, sleeping beside you is often their favorite spot. You may not find this to be a good thing if you have allergies. Since kitties are more active at night, you can rest assured that he or she will not stay in one spot all night. Instead, you will be treated to the midnight romp across your chest or the pounce on your head. Plus, you will notice mysterious scratches on yourself in the morning if your pet has claws.

Keeping your bedding clean is also something to consider. Even though kitties are clean animals, they still shed fur. Worse yet, you may awaken to the sound of retching necessitating an eviction from your bed before a hairball is left behind.

You may not want your baby using your couch or other furniture as a bed, either. Getting up from a piece of furniture covered in cat hair is not a pleasant experience for anyone, especially for your guests that may not share your love kitties. And, you don’t want your pet to be upset and jump on someone because they are sitting on his or her ‘bed.’

You will discover many types of beds beyond the traditional cat bed. For elderly cats or those with movement issues, heated pads, gel padding or egg-crate mattresses are on the market. You might also like those that are found in cat furniture which can offer a variety of other activities for your pet such as climbing towers, scratching posts, and perches.

Cats love to feel safe and secure. A bed will give your kitty a place of his or her own that can keep the world or at least that nuisance dog away. If you position the bed up high, kitty can keep a look out for approaching danger. Or, you could put it in front of a window so that snoozing and viewing the great outdoors are possible.

You can also find models that will lend to your decor. For example, you might discover a four poster bed that matches your four poster bed or one that is uniquely designed that proves to be a conversation piece.

Just when you thought that you were through buying your own furniture for your home, condo, or apartment, along comes someone that tries to sell you on the idea of furniture for your cat. Whats the deal? Does your cat really need its own furniture and what on earth can it look and function like?

A Place to Call its Own

The truth be told, your cat in fact prefers to have its own soft place or places to recline in. It recognizes its scent on its own bed and will prefer it over anything else in your living space. This means that if you are tired of your cat climbing all over and shedding on your furniture, then chances are it needs its own comfy bed.

A Second Secluded Bed

So, first on your list should be a nice padded cat bed for your furry little house mate to call its own. Next on your list should be a second cushy cat bed to place under one of your beds or in a closet where your cat can recline and relax when it just wants to get away from it all and spend some time alone.

Keep the Fleas Away

Your cat will be happier and more friendly when it has its own soft places that it recognizes as its own territory. Also, your cats bed is an excellent place to sprinkle a little flea powder from time to time to keep it free of these anything pests. Still yet your cats bed is a great place to put its toys when you pick up your place. It will be glad to have them handy and they will be out of the way when he or she isn’t playing with them.

A Carpeted Cat Tree for its Claws

The next time you look up in shock, to see your cat scratching its claws on a piece of your own furniture, you must bear in mind that it would rather have its own carpeted cat tree to use. Once again, it will grow to recognize its smell on it and prefer it over anything else because it is its own territory.
