My Himalayan I had for 17 years did that in my lap constantly- back feet were beside my hips and head was hanging down off my knees and those front legs would be stretched as far towards the floor as possible. It made for easy combing of the "armpits" and his belly. He would do it anytime he laid in my lap or when I rubbed his belly. Not all cats like that or trust their owners that much, so you are very blessed.
